One of the most popular stories behind the celebration of mother's day is that of Anna Jarvis. She lost her mother on the 10th May 1908 in West Virginia and for the next 3 years, she dedicated this day to all the mothers, which now is celebrated a Mother's day all across the globe. Many countries also mark it as an official holiday.
In India, this day is celebrated with great gusto, where kids try to do something special for their mothers...like crafting a hand made a greeting card or spending the whole day with them. Besides, they make sure to convey how their mother is the inspiration for the entire family and is irreplaceable. To mark the importance of this day, a lot of schools hold interesting activities for the children and their mothers, like imparting a speech or writing poetry.
Well, we tend to love and respect our mothers every day but this special day gives us an opportunity to spend quality time with our mothers and emote our emotions & gratitude towards them.
