Making a Miniature Leather Purse

We haven't made a leather purse project yet so we decided to give it a go! This miniature leather purse is just the right size for a cell phone and wallet with some small personal effects. We made it by hand using natural vegetable tanned leather, and hand sewed it with a saddle stitch and polyester thread. To make this DIY leather purse, we used the Little Wonder press from our sponsor Weaver Leather to install solid brass rivets as well as solid brass snap hardware.

We chose to only use a small handle on our miniature leather purse, but you could absolutely add in a shoulder strap if you want to make your own miniature leather purse by hand! Handmade purses are always stylish for any season, but they are a particularly good item for summer as you don't usually need to carry a jacket :) When you are making your miniature leather purse, just remember to size the interior of the DIY purse correctly for what you are carrying - make sure the miniature purse is not too miniature!
