Chelsea have alternative to Frank Lampard on Maurizio Sarri replacement list

Chelsea have alternative to Frank Lampard on Maurizio Sarri replacement list Chelsea boss Sarri is poised to leave the west London giants, despite steering the club to the Europa League title, third in the Premier League and the EFL Cup final. The Italian is wanted at Juventus to replace Massimiliano Allegri, who announced he would be leaving the Serie A giants last month. Chelsea have been tipped to appoint Lampard as Sarri’s successor, with the England international enjoying a good first season in management with Derby County. The 40-year-old’s stock is high after guiding the Rams to the Play-Off final, where they were beaten by Aston Villa at Wembley. TRANSFER NEWS LIVE UPDATES: FOLLOW THE LATEST NEWS AND GOSSIP Many Chelsea fans believe it is only a matter of time before Lampard rules the roost at Stamford Bridge. However, Express Sport understands the 40-year-old is not the only person on the Blues’ list of potential replacements. Former Chelsea coach Steve Holland is also under consideration. The 49-year-old is currently involved with the England set-up, helping Gareth Southgate’s side prepare for their Nations League showdown with Holland on Thursday. Holland spent eight years at Chelsea, coaching their reserves before becoming assistant manager in 2011.  And the Blues could opt to make him their new boss should they fail to bring in Lampard. Harry Redknapp, meanwhile, has doubts as to whether now is the right time for Lampard to take the Chelsea job. He said: “If Sarri goes I think Frank would be one of the favourites. “Well, he is the favourite, if you look the bookmakers they’ve closed the book on it. He’s a massive odds-on favourite. “But it’s a difficult one for him. He’s at a good club, Derby is a great club. He’s had one year there and he’s got a good relationship with the chairman, so it would be difficult to leave.  “But if the Chelsea job comes up, will he turn it down? It won’t be easy for him. “It’s a big job at Chelsea next year, with the transfer embargo and [potentially] losing Eden Hazard, I mean, my God, how do you replace him? He’s a special player. “No one can fill those boots. He’s in the top five players in the world. They can’t replace him.” Chelsea have also been linked with Allegri, but the Italian is likely to take a sabbatical before venturing back into management.
