Health Care For All Regardless Of Nationality

Health Care For All Regardless Of Nationality Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh says patients in the public health sector are being treated for Malaria, HIV and other communicable diseases, regardless of their nationality.

Minister Deyalsingh, responding to a question in the House of Representatives on Monday afternoon said the transmission of Malaria continues to be a source of concern for the public health sector. On the issue of HIV, the Health Minister said all persons regardless of their nationality will be tested and will be given free anti-retroviral drugs.

He said the Ministry of Health does not want to drive anybody underground and there should be no discrimination or stigmatisation. Minister Deyalsingh also said Venezuelans are not the only non-nationals accessing health care services in Trinidad and Tobago.

He said not all the resources to treat non-nationals are coming from the taxpayers of Trinidad and Tobago.
