I took the lane as indicated by the bike "sharrows" marking the roadway, because of a lack of shoulder, parked cars, and a construction zone with no safe passing area. Cyclists typically do this to prevent vehicles from passing too closely or hitting cyclists while attempting to pass. The UTA bus driver crossed a double yellow line in the roadway, closely passing me. The bus driver then barely makes it back into the correct lane of travel before encountering oncoming traffic. This was an unsafe pass for myself, the driver of the bus, the occupants of the bus, and the oncoming traffic. This driver should have simply waited the 30 seconds required for me to reach the bike lane on the other side of the I-15 bridges. Instead, this driver put the lives of numerous people in jeopardy.
