SLOTH & dependence; mental LAZINESS & spiritual ABUSE -- a predicament of Jehovah's Witnesses alone? Jehovah's Witnesses, like billions of others alive today, are ripe subjects for deception and spiritual abuse. They are taught to be absolutely dependent on other men for their "spiritual food". In this dependence, they are like hundreds of millions in other faiths, who also have been conditioned to believe they personally DON'T have to worship God with their whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Whereas most Jehovah's Witnesses could never be charged with laziness in their their use of time, by the standard of Solomon, not to mention Christ, they fail to follow the biblical counsel as to how true wisdom can be found: "IF you keep seeking for it [wisdom] as for silver, AND you KEEP searching for it, as for hidden treasures; THEN you will understand the fear of Jehovah, and you will find the knowledge of God." (Proverbs 2:4,5, NWT). Whereas, we DON'T need dependence, we DO need teachers. So God has given Israel Moses and David, Solomon and the prophets. Christ has given the church the Apostles, as well as Bible teachers such as Mark, Luke, Stephen and Apollos. Because He promised to be with His church always, Christ has continued to supply all of us with sound, reliable teachers -- more than we can possibly keep up with. Among them is the author of "Be Satisfied", Warren Wiersbe.
