French Guiana: Ariane 5 Rocket launches two satellites into orbit

Commercial launch service provider Arianespace successfully launched two satellites using an Ariane 5 ECA rocket from Guiana Space Centre in Kourou on Tuesday.

The Ariane 5 rocket has a launch capacity of 21,000 kg (46,000 lb) and each launch reportedly costs between $165–220 million (€147- €196 million).

The rocket carried the Intelsat 39 ( a high-power geostationary communications satellite for Intelsat, which will broadband networking and video distribution services in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.) communications satellite which will provide broadband networking around the globe and the EDRS-C satellite which will help to improve environmental and security monitoring into Earth orbit.
