The Gameboy Advance SP was a revision Nintendo released for the Gameboy Advance that introduced new features like a lit screen and a built in rechargeable battery that eliminated the need for Double As. We did lose some battery life with the light on, but it was still considered an all day battery with a small drop from what the Gameboy Advance offered. The GBA SP introduced a bunch of new ideas that Nintendo would go on to use in their successful DS line and when you look back on what they managed to accomplish starting with the SP it is pretty obvious that this was their most important revision.
