I've broken my RX-100V, and replaced it with a new a6400. All the research I did kept highlighting the newest cameras and seemed to shame the previous year's model, which everyone praised then. It all led to one conclusion: cameras are now like cell phones, with manufacturers releasing small updates each year. All that means is that new photographers are becoming more and more confused and discouraged, and for no good reason, because even older cameras have more than enough capability for someone just starting out.
