SOS Children's Villages of Pakistan is a non-governmental social welfare organization dedicated to providing homes for orphans and abandoned children. It is working under the supervision of SOS Children's Villages, which is affiliated with SOS Kinderdorf International, with its head office in Innsbruck, Austria and is one of 132 member associations in different countries. It is the largest children welfare organization in the world and has so far established over 1600 projects, with the number steadily increasing.
SOS Children's Villages are working in 14 cities across Pakistan. The pilot project in Pakistan is the SOS Children's Village Lahore, which was opened in 1975 with the support of SOS Kinderdorf International. Since then they have established another 27 projects in 14 cities of the country (without any international aid) and intend to continue expanding till there are enough to cater to all the deserving children of Pakistan.
The Multan SOS Village is one of the establishments of SOS Pakistan, initiated in 1999, and currently resides a total of 175 children. The SOS meets its budget requirements, through donation and sponsorship schemes with individuals or corporate groups undertaking to meet the expense of a particular child or group of children.
