This song has taken me 5 years to gather the guts to write. I wrote it last week. I do not like talking about this, but 5 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. Today I write this song to go out to anyone who has been through that. It is life altering, and it leaves you simply wanting to be able to plan again for a normal future. It makes you realize who you would be leaving behind if you had to go. The title “You Simply Hang The Moon” comes from a saying my grandad used to say. If he thought highly of someone, he said they “hang the moon”. I believe that phrase is from his generation. My big message I want to get across with this song is that we, as people, need to get our priorities straight and put the pedal to the metal when it comes to funding for cures for cancer, as well as currently incurable neurological illnesses. We spend so much on so much stuff we do not need. What we need is a world where we do not live in fear of these conditions because we have cures for them.
