Is Karwa Chauth relevant in today's world? The festival of Karwa Chauth is celebrated by Hindu married women every year on the fourth day after Purnima (full moon day) in the month of Kartika. Women keep a fast on Karwa Chauth - from sunrise to moonrise - to pray for the long life of their husbands. The festival originated and is celebrated mostly in the northwestern part of the India. In modern Indian society, Karwa Chauth is considered to be a romantic festival, symbolising the love between a husband and wife.
