Curbing Counterfeit Drugs In Nigeria
 - Chibuzor Opara In Nigeria, 70% of drugs are imported. These drugs are usually from India and China where it is alleged to be the world’s biggest sources of counterfeit medicines.

Since the Nigerian Government launched national drug distribution guidelines to restructure the drug distribution system in Nigeria, there has been a significant improvement in checking counterfeit drugs. But, it is one thing to create a system and another, to sustain the effectiveness of that system.

However, because of the open drug markets, which do creates the opportunities for counterfeits to enter the legitimate supply chain, it is quite difficult preventing and detecting counterfeit medicines in Nigeria.
