My first day of watching for the december solstice event...I misjudged where the shadow would be and ended in a field with a bunch of thorn bushes. This, it is easy to see that the sun does indeed move a LOT more with a taller sundail (moved about 200ft from where it was for the 2019 summer/June(?) solstice event). Hope you get out and try for yourself!! Might take a couple tried to fine tune your method; so, the sooner you get out there the better. I think the solstice is being predicted to occur this year somewhere around the 22nd.
