The guidelines for HPV vaccination were updated recently, as Neha Shah, PAC — an AMITA Health OB-GYN physician assistant based in Chicago’s northwestern suburbs — explains. Originally, the guidelines covered boys and girls ages 9-26. The new guidelines increase that age range to age 45. This means that if you were too old to receive the vaccine when it was first introduced, you can (and should) get vaccinated the next time you see your OB-GYN.
