India to decide between UK and the USA’s Developmental plan for INS Vishal | MMRCA Tender This video is related to.....

1) India to decide between UK and the USA’s Developmental plan for INS Vishal

Indian Navy chief has confirmed that the Naval design bureau is currently evaluating offers from both UK and the USA who have offered to act as consultants for India’s plans to develop a 65,000 tonne INS Vishal aircraft carrier. The UK has offered it’s HMS Queen Elizabeth class of aircraft carrier design to India which due to same displacement size makes more sense but still will still require heavy modifications since present design is, in short take-off and vertical landing aircraft (STOVL ) configuration while Indian Navy wants Catapult to take off but arrested landing (CATOBAR) system which is mastered by the USA.

India also has selected the American Electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS) launch and recovery system for the aircraft on the deck which again means it will heavily depend on the US Team for installation and certification of the Aviation assets to be based on the INS Vishal. Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) which has developed 8 nuclear-powered Super aircraft carriers like Nimitz-class and now constructing 5 Gerald R. Ford-class Super aircraft carriers for the US Navy is ready to assist India in development of the INS Vishal and certify it Aviation assets for operations from the aircraft carrier. India plans to operate its indigenously developed TEDBF Twin-engine fighter from the INS Vishal which later will also support 5th Generation Naval fighter jet based on AMCA so US Cooperation in their carrier certification on EMALS system is also critical.

2) Indian Air Force to get 114 fighter aircraft! SQRs gettng finalised

With the SQRs (Services Qualitative Requirements) being finalised for the 114 Fighter Aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF), the stage is now set for the process for the procurement of these aircraft has started. Explaining the procedure a senior officer said, “Now that the SQRs for the fighter aircraft are getting finalised, as per the laid down the procedure will go to the technical management committee before being put up in the DAC which is headed by the defence minister Rajnath Singh. Once the DAC approves then the RfPs will be to be sent out to the global aerospace majors.” “Minimum time it will take the process to be completed is not less than a couple of years,” he explained. The acquisition of these 114 fighter aircraft which is under the Defence Ministry’s `Strategic Partnership’ (SP) Model, has seven contenders who have envisaged their interest in the Rs 1.75 lakh crore deal.
