WATCH: Steyer on needing diversity at the debate, maintaining relations with China

WATCH: Steyer on needing diversity at the debate, maintaining relations with China Immediately after the sixth Democratic debate, PBS NewsHour correspondent Lisa Desjardins caught up with businessman and activist Tom Steyer. He questioned whether the debate had focused enough on the economy, commented on the importance of candidates of color on the debate stage and on the Democratic ticket, and clarified an earlier answer on China. “China is the biggest producer of greenhouse gases in the world. To cut off relations with them would be disastrous,” he said. Steyer is one of seven Democrats vying for their party's presidential nomination in 2020 who met the increasingly challenging qualifications to be on the debate stage on Dec. 19, 2019.
