Juvenile Correctional Officer LaTia Nelson is lacing up her boots to follow in her mother’s footsteps. JCO Nelson graduated from DJJ Basic Training in October and now joins the ranks of men and women committed to maintaining the safety and security of youth at DJJ’s secure facilities. Nelson comes from a family with strong ties to DJJ and law enforcement. Her mother, Corporal Olympia Tuten, is a long-time officer for the Agency. Both Nelson and her mom embrace their family’s legacy of serving at-risk youth as they embody DJJ’s slogan of “empowering our youth for the future.”
