GM eBoost Trailer Brake Concept Promises Improved Stopping Distances

GM eBoost Trailer Brake Concept Promises Improved Stopping Distances General Motors is trialing a new advanced trailer braking concept that sees the stopping distance of a truck and trailer improved by up to 20 percent or 40 feet from 60 mph (96km/h) to zero when compared to an identical truck and trailer using traditional electric trailer brakes.

The eBoost braking system is used on both the truck and trailer with the proper software to enable communication. The bad news is that while Chevrolet and GMC trucks on the road today potentially have the components necessary to make this concept a reality, no trailers exist with the same capability.
