Little Afzal slipped his tiny fingers from the hold of his mother’s hand and happily ran on the wet sand with his elder brother, Anjala. For the first time in his short life, he got to look at the sea. His eyes lit up as the soft breeze passed through his baby hair. After a series of tests, the doctors revealed that he is suffering from Thalassemia Major, a blood disorder where the body doesn’t produce enough oxygen-producing proteins.
Little Afzal keeps wailing in pain. All he wants is to lie on his mother’s lap and sleep. When his brother, Anjala tries to play him, he finds it difficult to even move because of weakness. Every day is a struggle for him.
