Some facts about asylum in Ireland:

Last year the Irish Times reported that the Department of Justice said that the five leading applicant countries for 2017 were Georgia, Albania, Pakistan, Nigeria and Zimbabwe "which are not acknowledged conflict zones with high grant rates.”


In 2016, the Independent reported that only 10% of asylum seekers are granted asylum in Ireland.


80% of deportation orders on failed asylum seekers are not implemented according to the ESRI
