[NEWS IN-DEPTH] Kim-Xi summit analysis 5차 북중 정상회담 분석

Chinese President Xi Jinping has returned to Beijing after wrapping up his two-day visit to North Korea this afternoon.
North Korean leader has showed willingness to continue dialogue with the U.S. on denuclearization, while President Xi vowed to support North Korea's security and development needs.
Today we go in-depth on the Kim-Xi summit analysis and the role of South Korea.
For that let's bring in Dr. Go Myong-hyun of the Asan Institute for Policy Studies.
Thank you for joining me today.

1. Chinese President Xi Jinping sure received the highest red carpet treatment from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, with a 21 gun salute and an endless wave of ardent cheers from North Korean residents on the streets. How do you assess Pyeongyang's protocol?
2. Xi Jinping's visit came as Kim Jong-un entered his 8th year at the helm of the North Korean regime. How much do you think Chinese President Xi's visit helped Kim Jong-un in further cementing his power domestically?
3. Do you think Xi Jinping went back home with what he wanted? Perhaps a bargaining chip to use against the U.S.?
4. According to Chinese media, Kim Jong-un has stated that he will be patient with the U.S. in dealing with the peninsula's nuclear issue. How do you interpret this?
5. Chinese media also reported that Xi has vowed all necessary help for North Korea's security and development needs. What kind of help is Xi talking about?
6. While chinese news outlets reported Xi's promise to help resolve North Korea's security and development needs, North Korean state media seemed to have completely left that part out from their coverage. Why?
7. In recent years, North Korea's denuclearization efforts were possible due to cooperation by the two Koreas and the U.S. Now through Xi's visit we can see that China clearly wants to be back in the game. But do you think it would be possible for China to play a bigger role than backing its old ally?
8. Kim Jong-un told Xi Jinping that he hopes to learn from China's economic development. Would it be possible for China to provide any economic support amid the tough sanctions that are still imposed on Pyeongyang?
9. The U.S. State Department released its annual report, designating North Korea as one of the worst human trafficking nations for the 17th consecutive year... while also naming China in the lowest Tier 3 category. This follows Washington' sanctions on a Russian firm suspected of having links to North Korea announced just yesterday. What do these developments tell us about Washington's stance now?
10. China apparently wants to wield more clout in North Korea's nuclear issue... and this is stirring up concerns that South Korea may lose ground as a mediator. Do you think South Korea needs a new strategy?
11. The South Korean government continues to signal North Korea that it hopes to hold the 4th round of inter-Korean summit talks as soon as possible. Unification minister Kim Yeon-chul said today that the government is continuing to send that message over to the North. What are the chances of the two Koreas holding another summit?
