Pasighat News:- While continuing their voluntary flood protection works. While continuing their voluntary flood protection works to divert the river current of Siang River which is continuously eroding away more lands toward the village side of the Seram village and other villages in the left bank side of Siang River under Lower Mebo areas, the Seram village is again conducting voluntary flood protection works by erecting porcupine spars.
While talking about their efforts to protect the village from further erosions and damages, Seram Village Head Gaon Burah, Josung Modi said that, devoid of any government assistance till date in stopping or minimizing massive erosions toward the villages, the villagers are volunteering to protect their own villages.
“Since long we have been suffering from massive destruction of Siang river but no serious efforts from our state and central government seen coming yet”, added Modi who is also doubtful about the possible release of Rs. 35 Crores assured by Chief Minister, Pema Khandu in regards to flood protection works
mostly under Lower Mebo covering villages like Sigar, Raling, Motum, Borguli, Seram, Kongkul, Gadum and Mer . Seram village Secretary, Amit Modi also appealed the state government led by Pema Khandu to speed up the release of Rs. 35 Crores meant for flood protection works.
Siang River because of which the entire old Seram village called ‘Ramku’ is no more leading to shifting of village from Ramku to Palek couples of years ago. The flood protection works is being continuing from last 3-4 days and the works are likely to be continued, informed, Anthony Gamnoh, one of the active youth from Seram village.
