This is how I did it. I am not a professional nor am I saying this is the best or right way. THIS IS JUST HOW I DID IT. • First lay down plastic or news paper around area or under desk where painting and pouring will be done.
• It's best to do it outside on a sunny day.
• Now you want to tape under or along sides of desk. So that resin doesn't run down it. Make sure tape is sealed.
• Then paint with white paint or white primer.
• Let dry for one hour or until its dry to touch. I put a fan on it to speed up drying time.
• Then paint with the paint color you want the table or desk to be.
• Let dry for at least an hour or dry to touch. (If white paint shows through that's ok) or if you have paint lines. That's not a big deal.
• Then mix some glitter and modpodge together. It should be thick like pudding.
• This part is important. Put a little section of that modpodge down and sprinkle glitter on it. Leave the glitter to set. Then move to another section do the same until whole area is covered.
• Do not remove extra glitter until whole thing is completely dried.
• Then once dry put a large piece of newspaper on ground or have someone hold it. Tilt table to the side and dump extra glitter off onto spare newspaper. Then you can pour it back into container for later use.
• Spray with a clear sealer to keep your colored glitter from mixing with your resin. Should only take a few mins to dry. Let set for 10 mins before pouring on resin
• Now it's time for resin
• BEFORE YOU RESIN《-----------
• Make sure it's in an area that it can stay for up to 24 hours. If this is done on a nice day and sunny. It should cure in 5 to 7 hours and can be moved but NOT USED for 24/72 hours.
• Make sure its LEVEL
• Now put on your gloves
• Get out two cups that are plastic of the same size. Pour hardener in one cup, Then resin in the other cup. Equal Amounts. (If your resin is one to one) which is what I use. ☆READ THE RESIN INSTRUCTIONS ☆
• Then pour both your hardener and resin into one larger cup. I use a large measuring cup I got from walmart. The mixture will be cloudy at first and start to turn clear and you mix. MIX well for about 3 to 4 minutes.
• I also added 3 drops of catalysts. And mixed for one minute. Which is an added harder that you have to buy separate. You don't have to do this. It will just speed up your curing time. Once you add this. You don't have much time to work with the resin once you add catalysts. So if your new at this and feel you need working time. DON'T USE THIS.
• I added some white holographic glitter at this point. AND MIXED for one min.
• Then I double check to make sure it was level and spread evenly all over. I used my hands. You can use the side of the stir stick. That helps alot. Make sure the whole area is covered.
• Once covered. Then let it sit. Take off gloves and dont touch nothing throw away.
• Use a torch or long nose lighter to pop any air bubbles. The heat from the lighter is what pops the air bubbles. Hold flame close to resin. Go back and forth all over. The heat from the torch will pop the air bubbles.
• Come back every 20 mins for about 2 hours or so and take a stir stick and remove any drops of resin that might have gathered underneath the desk or table. (Meaning droplets) lol
• DO NOT LET RESIN GET ON FLOOR OR CARPET NOTHING WILL GET IT OFF.
• Once resin has cured. Remove tape and your DONE. Do not use desk or table for 24/72 hours.
