How To Improve Your Guard Retention in BJJ With 1 Effective Grip

How To Improve Your Guard Retention in BJJ With 1 Effective Grip Getting your guard passed and getting stuck in Side Control in BJJ is never something someone wants to happen. And preventing this situation is something I get questions about all the time. So in this Brazilian Jiu-jitsu technique video I'll show you a simple grip fighting idea from the bottom to improve guard retention as well as stopping the guard pass.

The big focus is controlling the inside position with our grips which is always something I focus on. Next I touch on the placement and positioning of my hands that I've found to be useful for me.

By controlling the arm that they use to control my head I'm able to stop them from securing a strong side control position and at the same time able to make more space for my escape.

I end the video with a BJJ challenge to implement this technique / idea into your game.

Hope you enjoyed the video and I hope it helps your Brazilian Jiu-jitsu game. Thanks for watching.
