Why Do We Put the Past on a Pedestal?

A common cycle humans do from generation to generation is praise everything your generation grew up doing, and patronize everything the newer generations are doing. Why do we think it is some greater act to write a letter than to send a text with the same message? Remember that the generation before us used to do the same thing and we thought it was ridiculous so why are we continuing the cycle? We need to stop ostracising the younger generations for how they live and start accepting that is how things are evolving.
