World Environment Day | Delhi student turns junk glass into valuable sand

World Environment Day | Delhi student turns junk glass into valuable sand On the occasion of World Environment Day, Hindustan Times spoke to Udit Singhal, a school student in New Delhi who is trying to turn empty glass bottles into valuable sand via his project Glass2Sand. While researching about the problem of increasing glass waste at landfills, Udit discovered a company in New Zealand which produces machines which can efficiently crush empty glass bottles into sand which is better than natural sand in making concrete. He is now trying to set up a chain wherein hotels and restaurants supply empty glass bottles to crushers who can then ensure the byproduct is put to good use.
